A COVER UP IN PLAIN SIGHT

The DCFPlantation blog posted a story March 16, 2013 titled Weather Gone Wild or All Eyes On Me. In the story it is described how a Caucasian Youth Services Officer at Connecticut Juvenile Training School assaulted a resident of color  [click on March 16th story to read report of assault] and received a minor disciplinary action. What I wish to address in this story today is the good old boy network within the CJTS plantation that covers these matters up. A cover up in plain sight is a beautiful thing if it can be pulled off. What you do is change facts and thinking to make people believe that what was seen or perceived is not real. Take for instance the September 10, 1993 fight between Champions Pernell Whitaker 32-1 and Julio Cesar Chavez 87-0 for Welterweight titles at 145 pounds. In plain sight of millions of people Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker gave Chavez a  "ghetto and project" beating and boxing lesson to go with it-angles, feints, slipping punches were common with Pernell throughout the fight. However, when Jose Sulaiman, president of the World Boxing Council collected the score cards from referees judging the fight, this became a cover up in plain sight. The fight was called a draw thus protecting Chavez legend as a great fighter. But what people saw, and what the outcome led to, is a cover up in plain sight.
When the white YSO assaulted the resident of color it appeared to be open and shut case; policy states that YSO should have been arrested for assault and fired. White administrators became part of the cover up at CJTS in the following ways: 1. a small group of sympathetic supervisors were part of the dialogue with this YSO, 2. On several occasions a similar cadre often sat in harsh judgment of YSOs of color about various infractions, 3. the resident in a discussion right after the incident was given a lesser definition of what happened to consider against the white YSO. No such helping hand during investigations are offered to YSOs of color: in the case of other YSOs white administrators go 'mole whackng' when a YSO of color gets in trouble, white management knocks off their heads using policy / procedure as cudgels. A cover up in plain sight of a YSO is what happened. What people saw clearly pointed to a white DCF employee slapping a resident of color. What management wanted people to see is a mistake by a YSO and nothing else. Well, read the two documents attached to March 16, 2013 blog story and tell me if this is not a cover up in plain sight.

BLAME IT ON THE BLACK PERSON : A GREAT AMERICAN TRADITION

The history of America is replete with instances of a white society that blames black people for societal ills. It is documented that blacks were accused of all manner of issues when in fact the administrators of a community actually failed to do their jobs. Now let us switch to the present situation at Connecticut Juvenile Training School in Middletown, Connecticut. For several years a black Youth Service Office named Cornell Lewis pointed out issues of bias/racism to management. The response was always the same; administrators (white) huddled the wagons and claimed nothing was going on, refusing to acknowledge even the smallest complaint. Oh there were meetings where management tried minimizing racial issues, but that was it. However, for years the mantra from CJTS always focused on "Cornell is the cause of turmoil" on CJTS campus.
Mr. Lewis is not around on CJTS campus for white existential angst to use as a focal point and there is still turmoil on the CJTS plantation. In true American tradition the white adminstrators have found a new scapegoat-a black supervisor named Linette Gaunichaux. Having worked for 20 years at this facility with a record of being diligent towards resdients or employees means nothing to white administrators. For now there is still inner turmoil at CJTS : but wait, Cornell is not on campus therefore, where does blame go? At this time a white YSO male is creating a hostile work environment for people of color through various means. Even thought the confronted YSOs informed Human Resources about the white YSOs actions nothing has been done. The classical response from administrators is to blame Linette for inciting blacks to talk to HR. At this time more employees termed as good old boys are under scrutiny for infractions that management winked at in the past. Some good old boys are on Administrative Leave, while some are being questioned about time sheets, attendance or computer use. CJTS management is outraged that the good old boys are now catching hell ( and this hell is from legal counsel on the DCF plantation and cannot be controlled by CJTS lackeys) and blames the current trouble on Linette. What makes matters worse is Linette is a Union Steward and has that power when addressing grievances at CJTS; whites in power fawn at Linette in public but condemn her to a verbal hell behind closed conference room doors.. Why not just take responsibility for what is going on at CJTS? Stop looking for excuses not to solve problems: blame it on the black person is a standard political, religious and societal device, shifts blame from the real subject matter.
When all else fails at CJTS blame it on the black person for we know this is a great American tradition (almost like Thanksgiving).

MINORITIES SUFFER IN EVERYWAY UNDER THE DCF PLANTATION

The hydra of DCF plantation has several heads consisting of the following components. First of all if you are a child in the State of Connecticut you are likely to wind up in their system of supervision, treatment or care. Second if you are a minority employee you are likely to have the lowest paying position within their hierarchy. Third, again minority employees are twice as likely to be terminated for various reasons. Lastly, whether you are a minority employee or a  community care provider; there is a chance of placement on DCF's Central Registry list-which prevents future employment with certain agencies and obtaining degrees for child care work.

As previously posted on the blog was a story titled Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics; this covered DCF's attempt to make claims it is diversified in hiring practices. This chart below indicates more deception is being carried on by the DCF hydra of bias, racism and inequality.
